Seawolves Drop Home Opener

South Portland - This afternoon's chilly temperatures did not deter the Seawolves from taking on the Wolverines of Bridgton Academy in their home opener. After a seven game stretch on the road the Seawolves were finally put to the test on their own turf. Three scoreless innings passed before the Wolverines struck in the fourth going ahead 1-0. Bridgton tacked on two more runs in the fifth putting the Seawolves at three run deficit. In innings five and six the Bridgton defenseretired the side in order in both innings. In the bottom of the seventh the Seawolves put two runners on base but couldn't generate the offense to bring them home and fell to the Wolverines 3-0.

Seawolves' starting pitcher Andrew Rascoe (Fryeburg, ME) pitched the first four innings, facing 17 batters and striking out five. Rascoe only gave up three hits and one run. The Seawolves had early opportunities to score in innings two, three and four however the Wolverines' defense was able to shut the Seawolves' out.

With this loss the Seawolves are 8-13 overall and 5-4 in YSCC conference play. They will be back in action at home on Saturday April 5th against EMCC for double header action at 12 & 2pm.
