Knights Triumph Over Seawolves

South Portland - In this afternoon's baseball action the Seawolves jumped out to an early 2-1 lead in the bottom of the first over the Knights from Northern Essex Community College, but the Knights clawed back to go ahead 3-2 in the top of the third. The momentum of the Knights carried them through nine innings as they overcame the Seawolves 11-4.

The Knights leadoff batter centerfielder Jonathan Delecruz nailed a triple to open up the ball game and then scored on error to put the Knights on the scoreboard. The Seawolves answered when shortstop Ethan Bilderback (Annapolis, MD) and third baseman Zachary Horton (South Portland, ME) hit consecutive doubles, followed by a Jon Daniszewski (Laconia, NH) single which resulted in two runs and a 2-1 lead. The Knights scored one run in the second and one run in the third to regain the lead at 3-2. 

In the fifth inning the Knights racked up four hits and scored three runs and put up an additional run in the sixth to go ahead 7-2. In seventh inning Seawolves' centerfielder Alex Brown (Weymouth, MA) nailed a triple to get on base then Bilderback singled to bring Brown home. Bilderback then scored on error to pull the Seawolves to within three, 7-4. The Seawolves were unable to generate any offense in the eighth and ninth innings while the Knights put four more runs on the board to come away with the 11-4 victory. 

With this loss the Seawolves drop to 8-16 and 5-4 in conference action. The Seawolves will be back on the field on Friday April 11th for a double header against the University of Maine - Presque Isle at 2pm and 4pm.
