Seawolves Win Two Against NHTI

South Portland - This afternoon in YSCC conference baseball double header action the Lynx of NHTI traveled to south Portland to take on the Seawolves of SMCC. In game one the Seawolves scored nine of their total twelve runs in the third inning en route to a 12-5 victory over the Lynx. In game two Seawolves' pitcher Corey Mongiat (Waterboro, ME) threw twelve strikeouts to help lead the Seawolves to a 11-7 triumph. 

Trailing 2-1 entering the bottom of the third the Seawolves lineup cumulatively racked up four stolen bases, eight RBI's and nine runs in the inning to give themselves a 10-2 advantage. Leading the way in the third inning were left fielder Jon Daniszewski (Laconia, NH) who had a single and an RBI double and centerfielder Alex Brown (Weymouth, MA) who had two RBI single before being subbed out due to injury. After a scoreless fourth, Lynx pitcher Pat Jarvis walked two Seawolves batters, Timothy Andersen (Beverly, MA) and Owen Kimmel (New York, NY). Andersen got batted in by third baseman Zachary Horton (South Portland, ME) and Kimmel proceeded to score on error, giving the Seawolves 12 runs. The Lynx made a run in the seventh, racking up three runs but it wasn't enough to overcome the SMCC lead as they fell to the Seawolves 12-5. Seawolves' pitcher Daniel French (Richmond, VT) pitched six and two-thirds innings giving up eight hits and striking out twelve batters.

In game two NHTI struck first again, holding on to a 1-0 lead going into the third inning. Seawolves' second baseman Brett Goodnow (Westbrook, ME) singled to get on base and then was advanced to third on a Daniszewski double. With runners on second and third Kimmel knocked in Goodnow to tie the game and then Brown batted in Daniszewski to put the Seawolves on top 2-1. The Lynx put up two runs in the fourth to regain the lead and the Seawolves answered in the bottom of the fourth with an Ethan Bilderback (Annapolis, MD) score to tie the game at three runs apiece. The Lynx chalked up two more runs in the fifth to again take the lead but the Seawolves lit it up in the fifth inning. Daniszewski and Kimmel each scored to tie the game and then Horton crushed one over the fence to bring in two runs and take the lead back for the the final time. At the end of five the Seawolves led 10-5 and would end up winning 11-7. 

With these two victories the Seawolves improve to 14-17 and 7-4 in conference play. They will be back in action at home on Monday the 21st at 1pm for a double header against Dean College.
