Seawolves Blow By Nashua

Seawolves Blow By Nashua

South Portland - This afternoon the Seawolves played in their final double header in YSCC conference play at home against the Jaguars of Nashua Community College. In game one Seawolves' centerfielder Alex Brown (Weymouth, MA) went 3-4 at the plate with an in-the-park homerun, a triple and six RBIs to propel SMCC to a 12-1 victory in five innings of play. In the second game, an impressive defensive effort by SMCC held Nashua scoreless as the Seawolves rolled to a 5-0 win.

In the first contest Brown drilled a line drive over the Nashua first baseman that rolled all the way to the fence for an in-the-park, three run homerun during his first at bat to give the Seawolves a 3-1 advantage after one inning of play. In the second inning the Seawolves put up seven of their twelve runs thanks in part to RBI triples by both Brown and shortstop Ethan Bilderback (Annapolis, MD). The lone run for the Jaguars was scored by leftfielder Mike Marakin. Seawolves' pitcher Nate Boyle (Windham, ME) came away with seven strikeouts in four innings while only giving up two hits and one run to get the win and designated hitter Daniel French (Richmond, VT) put three runs in the books for the Seawolves.

In game two a slew of Seawolves' pitchers combined for 10 strikeouts while only giving up five hits and holding the Jaguars scoreless. With a 0-0 tie after two and a half innings of play the Seawolves scored two runs on error in the third and then tacked on one more in the fourth on a Lucas Watson (Portland, ME) score. In the fifth, Brown and third baseman Zachary Horton (South Portland, ME) hit back to back doubles to help the Seawolves bring in two more runs to give them the 5-0 lead that held up as the final score.

With this pair of victories the Seawolves improve to 18-17 overall. They will retun to action for a final tournament against Bridgton Academy on Friday May 2nd at Bridgton and again on May 3rd at SMCC.
