Seawolves Sweep Mont Alto

Myrtle Beach, SC - In today's baseball double header the Seawolves swept Penn State - Mont Alto, overcoming the Nittany Lions by way of mercy rule, 11-0, in game one and prevailing 7-2 in game two. 

In game one the Seawolves jumped out to an early 5-0 lead after one inning of play and didn't look back as they rolled to an 11-0 victory. Pitcher Tim Anderson (Beverly, MA) picked up the win for the Seawolves, throwing three scoreless innings to start the game and striking out four of the twelve batters he faced. Jon Daniszewski (Laconia, NH) led the SMCC offense going 4-4 at the plate with three runs and a stolen base. Shortstop Phil Langley (Shawnee, OK) went 2-4 with three RBIs and a run while Caleb Burpee (Kennebunk, ME) pitched in with two runs and an RBI, going 2-3 at bat. Rounding out the Seawolves offense was Sean Adams (Lebanon, ME) who went 2-3 and performed as the team's catcher for the first time in his collegiate career.

In the second game newcomer Brian Bellows (Waterville, ME) picked up his first collegiate victory as he threw three innings without giving up any runs. The Seawolves' offense picked up where it left off in game as they scored three runs in both the first and second innings to jump out to a 6-0 lead. A familiar trio of Seawolves led the offense, Daniszewski went 2-3 with a run, Langley was also 2-3 with two runs and two RBIs and Burpee was 2-2 with a run and an RBI.

The Seawolves are now 3-0 on their spring trip and will continue playing in Myrtle Beach tomorrow against Cuyahog CC at 6pm.
