Seawolves Win Spring Opener, 2-1

Seawolves Win Spring Opener, 2-1

Myrtle Beach, SC - IN the Seawolves first game of the spring season, sophomore pitcher Nate Boyle (Windham, ME) threw a three hit, complete game. Boyle gave up a sole unearned run en route to a hard fought 2-1 victory over Genesee Community College of Batavia, New York.

Seawolves' center fielder Alex Brown (Weymouth, MA) hit a sacrifice fly to put SMCC on the scoreboard in the third inning. The Cougars tied the game in the fourth and had a base hit that would have put in place the go ahead run for Genesee but freshman Joe Apon (Portland, ME) was able to throw out the run and end the inning.

Apon would go on to score in the top of the seventh on a passed ball after he had stolen second and advanced to third on error. Despite only having two hits on the afternoon the Seawolves' defense and pitching prowess of Boyle was enough for SMCC to scrape by with the 2-1 victory.

The Seawolves' (1-0, 0-0 YSCC) next opponent on this spring road trip is Penn State - Mont Alto.
