Seawolves Drop Four Straight in Myrtle Beach

Seawolves Drop Four Straight in Myrtle Beach

Myrtle Beach, SC - The Seawolves baseball team started out red hot, picking up wins in their first three outings of the spring season. However, in recent games the Seawolves have been plagued with costly errors, causing them to suffer four consecutive losses, wrapping up week in Myrtle Beach with a 3-4 overall record.

On Wednesday the Seawolves fell to Cuyahog CC 9-5. They were able to jump out to an early 3-0 lead thanks to back to back doubles by leadoff batter Jon Daniszewski (Laconia, NH), a sacrifice fly by teammate Caleb Burpee (Kennebunk, ME) and an RBI single by newcomer Kyle Reichert (Portland, ME) but were unable to maintain. Phil Langley (Shawnee, OK) was a key contrbutor on offense, going 2-2 at the plate with two runs and an RBI. Michael Mageles (Bridgton, ME) is credited with the loss.

On Thursday morning the Seawolves faced off against Northampton CC. SMCC committed seven errors and Northampton racked up 12 hits en route to an 8-4 victory. Justin Ciszewski (Auburn, ME) led the offense with two RBIs and two doubles. Tim Andersen (Beverly, MA) picked up the loss.

Thursday evening the Seawolves played again, this time against Carl Sanburg CC where costly errors by SMCC led to three Carl Sandburg runs, as CSCC picked up the 5-1 triumph. Daniszewski was the teams' offensive leader, going 2-3 with a run and Reichert went 1-3 at the plate with a double. Brian Bellows (Waterville, ME) suffered the loss.

In their final outing of the spring trip, the Seawolves lost to Henry Ford CC, in a close fought 8-7 battle. The Seawolves held a 3-2 advantage after one inning of play but HFCC tacked on three runs in the second to take over the lead. SMCC was quiet until the fourth when Sean Adams (Lebanon, ME) sparked the offense with a lead off double. Adams went 2-3 for the game with the double, a run and two RBIs. Daniszewski and Anthony Campagnoli (Rockland, ME) each pitched in with an RBI single. Campagnoli picked up the loss when an errant throw to third base allowed HFCC to score the game winning run.

The Seawolves are now 3-4 overall and will look to begin their regular season as soon as the New England weather begins to cooperate.
