Seawolves Win Four Over Weekend

South Portland - This weekend the Seawolves picked up four consecutive wins in double headers against Navy Prep on Saturday and UMaine-Presque Isle on Sunday.

The Seawolves battled with the Rams of Navy Prep in game one, trailing early but tying it up late and forcing the game into extra innings. In the eighth managed to slip past Navy by a score of 12-11. Phillip Langley (Shawnee, OK) and Sean Adams (Lebanon, ME) each had three hits to lead the Seawolves offense.

In game two the Rams managed to rack up 10 strikeouts but the Seawolves offense was too much as SMCC picked up the 9-6 win. This outing the Seawolves were led by Alex Brown (Weymouth, MA) and Caleb Burpee (Kennebunk, ME) who combined for five hits, four RBIs and three runs. Pitcher Kyle Reichert (Portland, ME) picked up the win, throwing two and a third innings, giving up only two hits and no runs.

Against UMPI on Sunday the Seawolves ended game one quickly, wrapping up action in the fifth inning with a 12-2 victory. An explosive fifth inning led to seven Seawolves' runs which was capped off by an RBI double from Burpee. Tim Andersen (Beverly, MA) recorded the win, throwing all five innings and dishing out four strikeouts.

The stellar pitching of newcomer Brian Bellows (Waterville, ME) who picked up ten strikeouts and allowed only four hits, led to the Seawolves fourth win of the weekend as they triumphed over UMPI 5-2. The Seawolves chalked up all five of their runs in the third inning.

The Seawolves are now sporting an 8-4 record for the spring and a 13-6 overall record. They will be back in action on Thursday April 16th at 4pm against Central Maine CC.
