Seawolves Split in Double Header Against NHTI

South Portland - In this afternoon's baseball action between YSCC foes, Southern Maine CC and New Hampshire Technical Institute, the teams both scored five runs over two games, with each team defeating the other 4-1. NHTI prevailed 4-1 in the opening game and the Seawolves triumphed 4-1 in game two.

In the opener NHTI was able to grab the lead on an RBI ground out in the top of the fourth. The Lynx added three more in the top of the fifth on two RBI doubles and a Seawolves error. The Seawolves managed to get on the scoreboard in the sixth with a Michael Mageles (Bridgton, ME) run but that was the only run the NHTI defense would allow as they rolled to a 4-1 victory.

Seawolves' pitcher Nate Boyle (Windham, ME) threw a complete game in game two, giving up only three hits while throwing seven strikeouts and allowing a lone run in the first inning. The Seawolves trailed 1-0 until the fourth when Kyle Reichert (Portland, ME) drove in Justin Ciszewski (Auburn, ME) with an RBI single. The Seawolves were able to tack on three runs in the sixth with an RBI single by designated hitter Caleb Burpee (Kennebunk, ME) combined with a wild pitch and an error committed by the Lynx.

The Seawoles are now 15-7 overall, 8-3 in conference play. They will be playing at the College of St. Joe's on Monday with a double header at 1 and 3pm.
