Knights Slip Past Seawolves, 7-5

Knights Slip Past Seawolves, 7-5

South Portland - In this afternoon's baseball matchup between the Seawolves and the Knights of Northern Essex CC, the Seawolves committed four costly errors as the Knights came away with the 7-5 triumph.

After a shaky start defensively for the Seawolves, giving up four unearned runs and trailing 5-0 in the bottom of the fifth, they were able to respond in the fifth with two runs off a two RBI single by captain Alex Brown (Weymouth, MA). The Knights were able to rack up one run in the sixth off a wild pitch and took advantage of a miscue by the Seawolves in the seventh stealing home and expanding their lead to 7-2. The Seawolves rallied in the bottom of the eighth scoring three runs, one on an RBI double by Kyle Reichert (Portland, ME) and two more on an errant throw to first base by the Knights. But NECC closer Riley Warnock settled down in the ninth and retired the Seawolves in order to seal the victory.

Brown led the Seawolves offense going 2-5 from the plate, with two RBIs.

The Seawolves are now 15-8 and will host rival Central Maine Community College on Thursday, April 23rd at 4pm.
