Offense Reigns King in Baseball 302 Cup Challenge

South Portland The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) Seawolves baseball team hosted the annual 302 Cup Challenge with the visiting Wolverines from Bridgton Academy. 

The afternoon featured 26 total hits on the game as the Wolverines hold onto the annual Cup with a 22-17 victory.  The win gives Bridgton the last three seasons as the Cup Challenge winner.

The Seawolves were paced on the offensive side by sophomore Justin Ciszewski (Auburn, ME) who finished the day with two home runs and three RBIs. Freshman Brandon Locke (Groveland, MA) racked in a home run, two RBIs and three runs. First baseman Kyle Reichert (Portland, ME) helped the Seawolves with three runs and a triple. While junior Kyle Bussiere (Lewiston, ME) added two runs, three RBIs and a double to add to the Seawolves offense. 

The Wolverines had ten repeat hitters off Seawolves pitching. Leading the offensive pace for Bridgton was Kenny Wright and Alex Fallon, each batting 5 for 7. 

The Seawolves are in action again on Saturday, May 2 at the host the Yankee Small College Conference playoffs at the Graves Athletic Field on the South Portland Campus.  The #2 seeded Seawolves will take on #3 seeded New Hampshire Technical Institute at 11am.
