Big Seventh Inning Propels Seawolves Past Lynx

Big Seventh Inning Propels Seawolves Past Lynx

South Portland - In yesterday afternoon's USCAA baseball action the Seawolves used a monster seventh inning to pull away from the Lynx of NHTI and eventually take the 10-3 triumph.

SM's starting pitcher, Kyle Parmley (South Berwick, ME), gave up one run on a wild pitch in the first, before holding the Lynx to four consecutive scoreless innings. The Seawolves tied the game in the second on a Nate Boyle (Windham, ME) RBI ground out and took the 2-1 lead in the fourth on a Joe Apon (Portland, ME) sacrifice fly.

The Lynx knotted things back up in the fifth on a Tyler Adams RBI triple and regained the lead when Adams scored on a Seawolves error. Entering the bottom of the sixth the Seawolves were still chasing a one run lead when Edgar Montan (Dominican Republic) was walked and got himself into scoring position on a sacrifice fly by Boyle. Seawolves second baseman Chase Morales (New Britain, CT) then ripped an RBI double, his first double of the season, to score Montan and once again deadlocking the score at three runs apiece.

The Seawolves were red hot at the plate in the seventh inning, chalking up five hits and six runs to take the lead back for the final time. Highlights from the seventh included a double from Kyle Reichert (Portland, ME) and a triple by Boyle. SMCC added one final run in the eighth to solidify the 10-3 victory.

Pacing the Seawolves offense were Reichert who compiled two doubles, two RBIs and a stolen base and Morales who had a double, two RBIs and a stolen base.

The Seawolves will be back on the field this afternoon for a double header against the Lynx, starting at 12pm.
