CONCORD, N.H.— The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) baseball team split with the Lynx of New Hampshire Technical Institute (NHTI) in a Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) doubleheader on Saturday, Sept. 23.

Game 1: W, 9-5 | Box Score

First-year Devin Sawyer (Ayer, Mass.) made his second start on the bump for the SeaWolves, allowing five hits and four earned runs before junior Sean Adams (Lebanon, Maine) offered two innings of relief work, striking out three, in his third appearance of the season.

Adams recorded his team-leading 12th and 13th RBI on a base knock up the middle in the first inning. The Lynx answered with one of their own in their first at-bats, and then three more on two extra-base hits in the fifth.

SMCC took advantage of two NHTI errors in the sixth to push seven runs across and take a commanding 9-4 lead. Sawyer earned the victory; Lynx reliever Matt Chandler suffered the loss.

Game 2: L, 13-6 | Box Score

First-year Dylan Francoeur (Westbrook, Maine) was handed the ball in game two, opposite him was NHTI's Andrew Coulombe. Both starters were roughed up early on with the game knotted 6-6 after three.

Before all was said, NHTI's hot bats would tag SeaWolves' relievers for seven more. Cruz, McClellan, and Cappelietty, YSCC batting average leaders, combined for eight hits.

Junior Nathaniel Cyr (Freeport, Maine) had himself a day, recording two hits, three RBI, with two runs scored. The SeaWolves strung together nine hits, but were unable to keep the Lynx off the bases. SMCC fell in this one 13-6.

The Seawolves finish their regular season series with NHTI at 1-3, but remain atop the YSCC standings sporting a 7-3 record overall. The Lynx stand 5-5 in conference play.

SMCC is scheduled to travel to Bridgton Academy to play a single seven-inning exhibition game on Thursday, Sept. 28. First-pitch is set for 4:30 p.m.
