SeaWolves Downed 17-4 By Rowan Roadrunners

RUSSMATT CENTRAL FLORIDA INVITATIONAL—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) baseball team was defeated 17-4 by the Roadrunners from Rowan College at Gloucester County (N.J.) by a 13-run margin after seven innings at Lake Myrtle Park on Monday, Mar. 12.

Junior Amos Herrin (Wilton, Maine) put the SeaWolves ahead 1-0 with a solo homer to center in his first at-bat. The SeaWolves went on to score in each of the next three innings before the Roadrunners pushed seven runs across in the fifth inning and six more in the bottom half of the sixth.

Herrin went 2-4 from the dish notching two extra-base hits. Junior Sean Adams (Lebanon, Maine), sophomore Cody Bryant (Somersworth, N.H.), and Devin Butler contributed with RBIs to go along with SMCC’s nine hits.

Rowan totaled 17 hits and seven extra-base hits highlighted by two homeruns to cap the victory.

Junior Caleb Chambers (Lebanon, Maine) made his first start of the spring going four complete innings, allowing seven runs. Both Adams and Evan Leveroni came on in relief appearances to combine for two innings.

The SeaWolves sport a 2-3 record thus far with four games remaining at the Russmatt Invitational.

The action continues from Disney when SMCC squares off with Mott Community College hailing from Flint, Mich. in a doubleheader on Tuesday, Mar. 13. Games times are 1 and 3 p.m.
