Baseball Suffers Sweep In Return To Campus

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine— The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) baseball team dropped both in its home exhibition doubleheader against the Wolverines from Bridgton Academy on Sunday, May 2.

Game 1: L, 10-3 (7 innings) | BOX | VIDEO

First-year right-hander Nick Rinaldi (Tampa, Fla.) toed the slab for the SeaWolves in the first of the two-game slate. Rinaldi went 4.1 innings to allow 10 earned runs over 11 hits before sophomore Cole Lawrence (Pittston, Maine) came on in relief to record the final eight outs.

Facing an 8-0 deficit, the SeaWolves clamored back in the third inning with a two-run homer by first-year Andrew Martin (Dracut, Mass.) and a sacrifice fly courtesy of first-year Logan Burt (Philadelphia, Pa.). First-year Cameren Cousins (Wells, Maine) collected three hits in four tries and first-year Matthew Tufts (Wells, Maine) totaled a one-for-one day with two walks.

The Wolverines added to their run total posting one in the fourth and another in the fifth. The visiting Jack Campbell was credited the win.

Game 2: L, 11-6 (7 innings) | BOX | VIDEO

First-year Emerson Tucholski (Westlake, Ohio) made the start for the SeaWolves in the second game throwing 4.0 innings. The left-hander surrendered five earned runs and six hits ahead of a bullpen duty that was Ethan Hogue (Sanford, Maine), Liam Jann (Philadelphia, Pa.), and Lawrence.

First-year Derek Hoh (Methuen, Mass.), first-year Joshua Paisley (Portland, Maine), and first-year Gabriel Rivera (Miramar, Fla.) all recorded two-hit games.

The Wolverines’ Christopher Jenkins earned the pitching victory.
