South Portland, ME. The Southern Maine Community College men's basketball team lost a close battle to the visiting Knights of Berkeley College (NJ). The Seawolves outscored Berkeley 34-31 in the second half, but it wasn't enough to overcome the nine point halftime deficit.
Freshman guard Emmanuel Donalson (East Orange, NJ) led the scoring drive for the Seawolves with 17 points to go along with 4 steals, while freshman Alexander Hartford (Naples, ME) chipped in 10 points. Sophomore point guard Jose Nouchanthavong (Westbrook, ME) turned in a good all-around performance with 9 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals.
SMCC moves to 3-1 overall and remains 1-0 in conference play. They take the floor again tomorrow for day two of the SMCC Tip Off Tournament. The men face the Naval Academy Preparatory School in the 6:00 PM game. Fans can watch the game live at http://client.stretchinternet.com/client/smcc.portal.
