Martin Leads Seawolves Past Rams

Unity - Seawolves' forward Atencio Martin (Kittery, ME) scored a game high 18 points to lead SMCC past Unity College, 98-53, in last night's men's YSCC basketball action. Martin shot an impressive 8-13 (61.5%) from the floor and grabbed a team high nine boards.

After an uptempo first half the Seawolves found themselves sporting a 12 point lead at the half, 39-27. The defensive pressure and fast pace of the first twenty minutes wore out the shorter Rams bench and allowed for a dominant second half by the Seawolves, outscoring Unity 58-26. Seawolves' shooting guard Kevin Fabian (Lawrence, ME) and center Jack Tolan (South Portland, ME) led the second half scoring frenzy, contributing 11 points apiece.  While teammates Tyheem Simon (Queens, NY), Josh Gormley (Waterville, ME) and John Morgan (Sanford, ME) came off the SMCC bench to chip in seven points each.

Unity was led by standout guard Eddie Kopacz who scored 18 points on 8-12 shooting.

The Seawolves (6-1 overall, 2-0 YSCC) will play next at Hampshire College on Saturday at 1pm.
