Penn State York Defeats SMCC, 83-79

IN BRIEF:  #5 Penn State York earned the victory over #1 Southern Maine Community College, 82-75, in the consolation bracket of the USCAA Men's Division II Basketball National Championship with some stellar 3-point shooting. The Nittany Lions went 13 for 28 for the game, which is good for 46%.  2nd Team All-American, Logan Steckel, filled the stat sheet for the Nittany Lions with a game-high 26 points including 7 for 11 3-pointers.

ON THE COURT: First half action featured both teams shooting the ball efficiently at 56%.  For the second game in a row, Logan Steckel began shooting the ball effectively in the first half as he went 8 for 9 that included going 6 for 7 from the 3-point line for 22 first half points to help give the Nittany Lions the 5 point edge at halftime.

Following halftime, the Nittany Lions jumped out quickly in the first five minutes of play with a 12-0 run to achieve their largest lead of the game of 17. With 1st Team All-American, Atencio Martin, and Alexander Hartford leading the way, the Seawolves were able to chip away at the deficit and get as close as three points before running out of time.

Along with Steckel, Josh Jamison added 11 points and 4 rebounds for the Nittany Lions. For the Seawolves, Atencio Martin recorded a double-double with 11 points and a game-high 12 rebounds. In addition, Alexander Hartford and Tyheem Simon each chipped in with 11 points for the Seawolves.
