Seawolves Beat St.Thomas, DeRosby Scores 18

Auburn - In this afternoon's men's basketball season opener the Seawolves were able to use defensive pressure to force St. Thomas University into 26 turnovers and come away with the 70-47 win.

The Seawolves put 12 people into the scoring column in today's game, junior point guard Jordan DeRosby (Waterville, ME) led the way with an impressive stat line of 18 points, seven steals and three assists. In the first half of play, despite being outrebounded 27-20, the Seawolves were able to come up with 11 steals and take a 32-21 lead into the break. There were no let downs in the second period as SMCC tacked on nine more steals and outscored the Tommies 38-26 en route to their 70-47 victory.

Helping DeRosby on the offensive side of the ball were shooting guard Jon Amabile (Portland, ME) who netted 11 points and grabbed five rebounds and small forward John Morgan (Sanford, ME) who chipped in with 10 points to go along with seven boards.

The Seawolves, 1-0, will play again tomorrow, October 25th, at 12pm against UNB-St. John at Central Maine CC.
