WEST POINT, New York – The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) Men's Basketball team suffered its first loss since November, falling at Army Prep (USMAPS) 63-31 on Saturday, January 28.

USMAPS started strong building a 25-12 lead to bring to the break. The home team carried its momentum into the second half capping a 32-point victory. The Seawolves were unable to find a rhythm on offense, putting up numbers far below their season shooting averages.

Despite the team's efforts, senior captain DeSean Cromwell (Biddeford, Maine) still managed 11 points, and first-Year Cayman Warburton (Worcester, Mass.) pulled down nine rebounds to go along with four points.

UMAPS players, Josh Scovens and Ryan Curry scored 22 and 11 points respectively to support the win.

Head Coach Matt Richards was optimistic that his team would be able to use the loss as a learning opportunity, "Although our result was disappointing, it still proves extremely valuable with lots of teaching points comparatively to that type of ability." Coach Richards is hoping to apply some of those points in practice to better prepare the team for conference play later in the week.

The Seawolves lose their eight-game winning streak and now stand 15-5 overall.

The men play next in Concord, New Hampshire in a rematch with NHTI on Wednesday, February 1. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
