AUBURN, Maine – The #4-seeded Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's Basketball team took down the #1-seeded Central Maine Community College (CMCC) Mustangs 62-59 in the semifinal round of the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) playoff tournament on Saturday, March 4.

In a see-saw affair, SMCC ended the first half leading CMCC 24-23. Early in the second, the Seawolves fell behind but were able to regain a lead inside 20 seconds of regulation with a made layup from sophomore captain Jack Pyzynski (Saco, Maine). The Seawolves were able to expand and hold on until the buzzer, taking the win and advancing to the finals!

In a true team effort, Pyzynski scored 16 points and grabbed six rebounds for the underdog Seawolves. Sophomore captain Thomas Martinotti (Harwinton, Conn.) ended the game with 13 points.

Wyatt Hathaway and Jaeden Henderson combined for 36 points for CMCC.

The Seawolves survive and advance to the finals to play #6 Great Bay Community College on Sunday, Mar. 5. Tip-off in Auburn is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
