CONCORD, N.H.—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's basketball team suffered its second conference loss of the season to the Lynx of NHTI, 79-65 on Wednesday, Jan. 31.

Sophomore Luke Briggs (Augusta, Maine) and junior co-captain Thomas Martinotti (Harwinton, Conn.) combined for 18 of SMCC's 31 first-half points to give the Seawolves a 2-point advantage at the break.

It was NHTI's Joseph Cantey's 20-point performance in the second half that allowed the home team to prevail. The Lynx connected at a near 48.4 percent shooting clip in the final 20 minutes, and this efficiency proved to be the difference.

Briggs finished with a season-high 22 points and Martinotti with a double-double at 15 points and 10 boards. Rookie forward Adam Savage (Skowhegan, Maine) logged a double-double as well totaling 13 points and 13 rebounds—adding five assists and three blocks.

The result moves SMCC to 15-6 overall, 8-3 in league play. NHTI remains atop of the conference table at 7-1, 11-3 overall.

The action continues when the Seawolves travel to Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences to take on the Panthers in another Yankee Small College Conference showdown. Tip-off in Albany, N.Y. is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
