Lynx End Seawolves' Playoff Run

Lynx End Seawolves' Playoff Run

Concord-  The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC)  Seawolves Men's soccer team traveled to New Hampshire Technical Institute  to play in the Yankee Small College Conference  final four tournament.  The Seawolves won the right to play the host Lynx of NHTI by defeating Unity College earlier in the week.

The semi final match up was a game between host NHTI who came in as the #1 seed from the west division of the YSCC against SMCC, the #2 seed from the east.  The Seawolves were hoping to keep the game low scoring behind the defense of YSCC East player of the year goalie Spencer Hoyt (Rochester, NH) and standout Jacob Coffey (Lebanon, ME).  That plan was challenged early in the game with Coffey going down early in the first half with a leg injury that would end his day.  The Lynx took advantage of the depleted defense and went in to win 5-1 and advance to the conference finals.

SMCC lone offense came from freshman Sean Jackson (Berwick, ME) off a free kick 22 yards out early in the second half.  With the loss, the Seawolves finish the year 5-6-3.
