Strong Second Half Sends Clippers Past Seawolves

Machias - With just under 38 minutes remaining in the second half of this evening's YSCC soccer contest, the Seawolves were holding a 2-0 lead but the Clippers of UMaine-Machias came storming back and scored three goals in the second half to take the 3-2 victory.

Seawolves' midfielder Sean Jackson (Berwick, ME) got SMCC on the scoreboard when he netted a penalty kick at the 23:16 mark. Defense dominated the remainder of the first and the Seawolves entered the break with a one goal advantage.

Jackson scored again just seven minutes into the second half, recording his seventh goal of the season, fourth best in the YSCC. The Seawolves maintained their 2-0 lead until UMM's Everett Senetar kocked one in with 23 minutes remaining in the game. Over the next six and a half minutes Clippers' forward Jairo Castillo chalked up two goals to put the Clippers on top 3-2. With 16:28 left to play the Seawolves made their best efforts to tie the game but the UMM defense was able to hold them off and grab the win.

The Seawolves are currently 3-1 in conference play and sitting on top of the YSCC East. Next on the schedule for the Seawolves are the Mustangs of Central Maine CC, a home game on Wednesday October 7th at 4pm.
