SOUTH PORTLAND, ME – The Southern Maine Community College basketball teams swept the Moose of UMaine at Augusta this evening. The women’s team won 70-56 in a crucial YSCC matchup and improve their record to 7-2 in YSCC play. The men’s team beat UMA 100-66 and improve their YSCC record to 7-3.
The women’s game was evenly matched until the 10-minute mark of the second half when SMCC picked up the intensity and pulled away from UMA. The women were lead by Christina Ricci with 25 points and eight boards. Teammate Alisa Sweet chipped in with 17 points and 17 rebounds.
The SMCC men’s team started out slow, but quickly got into the flow and never looked back. The Seawolves were led by senior Coleman Findlay who scored 17 points shooting 70% from the floor. Teammates Daniel Foster and Josh Mackie scored 16 respectively.
The Seawolves are home against Navy Prep on Saturday, January 29th. Women’s game at 5:00pm and men’s will follow at 7:00pm.
