
South Portland, ME. The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's basketball team came to play on senior night as they won their last regular season game. The Lady Seawolves beat Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) opponent the Moose of the University of Maine Augusta (UMA) by a final score of 59-41. Even though SMCC was only shooting 33% from the floor, SMCC was up at half by a score of 29-24. The Moose made a run early in the second half but the Seawolves held them off and pulled away late to get the victory.
The Lady Seawolves were led by their only graduating player, junior guard Esther Palmieri (South Portland, ME) who had 11 points on 3 of 5 shooting from behind the 3 point arc and added 8 steals and 4 rebounds. Freshman forward Alicia Hoyt (Steep Falls, ME) had 13 points and 9 rebounds. Freshman forward Nyalieb Deng(Portland, ME) chipped in 10 points and 8 rebounds.
SMCC finishes the regular season 16-8 overall and 10-4 in conference play. The Seawolves are back in action this Friday February 15th as they travel to Central Maine Community College to compete in the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) tournament.
