Lady Seawolves Battle Past Saints

Rutland, VT - Tonight the Lady Seawolves traveled to Vermont for their first YSCC contest since Before the winter break to take on the Lady Saints of St. Joseph's College. After a slow first half by both teams, the Lady Seawolves went into halftime with a one point lead, 21-20. In the second half the Lady Seawolves found their rythmn, shooting a much improved 37% from the field and pulling away from the Lady Saints to end the contest at 63-47.

With 10:34 remaining in the first half the Lady Seawolves were sporting a mere two point advantage, 32-30, when shooting guard Danielle Day (Limington, ME) hit back to back three pointers to widen the lead to 38-30. The Lady Saints would cut the lead back down to five but came no closer for the remainder of the contest.

Leading the way for the Lady Seawolves was shooting guard Danielle McCusker (South Portland, ME) who scored 20 points on 7-13 shooting and grabbed eight rebounds. Post player Nyalieb Deng (Portland, ME) chipped in with eight points and nine rebounds and Day ended the contest with eight points. Lady Saints' shooting guard Chontayvia Kennedy led all scorers with 21 points and six steals and forward Marshae Sterling contributed a double double with 13 points and 17 rebounds. 

With this win the Lady Seawolves improve to 10-4 overall and 7-1 in YSCC conference play. They will return to action on Sunday January 12th at home against John Abbott College at 12pm.
