Kagiliery Drops 16, Lady Seawolves Roll Past UMM

Machias - In yesterday's game between the Lady Seawolves and the Clippers of UMaine-Machias, freshman shooting guard Kendra Kagiliery (Kittery, ME) netted a career-high 16 points while shooting 50% from the field to help SMCC put up conference win number ten, 79-28.

The Seawolves opened the game scoring the first 14 points before the Clippers got on the scoreboard at the 12:17 mark with a made jump shot by Rory Morgan. SMCC was on top 28-10 with 2:30 minutes remaining before Kagiliery closed out the half with three made shots to up the lead to 26 at halftime. Jordan Turner (Casco, ME) was a perfect 3-3 from the floor and 2-2 from the free throw line to add eight first half points for the Seawolves.

SMCC opened the second half just as they had the first, outscoring the Clippers 13-2 in the opening minutes to build the lead to 49-12. Jaimi Poland (Skowhegan, ME) knocked down nine of her 12 points in the second and the Seawolves shot 42% from beyond the arc, converting on 3-7 attempts to help expand the lead and pick up conference victory number 10.

For the game the Seawolves shot 28% from the three point line, 4-14, their best showing since hitting a shooting slump that has plagued them for the last five games. Kagilliery netted two of those four. Other big games for the Seawolves were Katherine Cyr (Chicopee, MA) who dropped 13 and had three steals, Poland who added 12 points and seven rebounds and Turner who netted 10, Amira Jones (Chicopee, MA) led the Seawolves in rebounding with 10.

The Lady Seawolves (16-7, 10-3 YSCC) are looking forward to rivalry week this coming week when they host the Lady Mustange of Central Maine CC on Wednesday at 6pm in HUB gymnasium.
