Mustangs Silence Seawolves

South Portland - This evening the Mustangs caught the Lady Seawolves on an ice cold shooting night and managed to walk away with the commanding 68-38 conference victory. 

The Seawolves kept the game close in the first twenty minutes, trailing just five as they headed into the locker room. The Lady Mustangs opened up the second half with a 13-4 run putting the score at 41-27 and giving them the lead they would never relinquish. The Mustang defense gave up only 15 points in the final two quarters. The Lady Seawolves shot an unimpressive 27% from the field, a mere 7% from the three point line and 46% from the charity stripe while the Mustangs netted 48% of their shots from the field, 44% from downtown and 77% from the free throw line. 

Alicia Hoyt (Steep Falls, ME) paced the Seawolves with eight points, seven rebounds and five blocks. The Mustangs were led by center Alex Rowe who tossed in 17 points and grabbed six boards. Shooting guard Seve Deery-Deraps chipped in 16 points and point guard Nicole Hamblin added 15 for CM.

This loss halts a five game Seawolves win streak and drop SM to 12-3 overall and 5-2 in conference play. The Lady Seawolves will have one final contest before the Christmas break begins, this game will take place at home on Saturday at 1pm against Community College of Rhode Island.
