Kagiliery Nets 16, Seawolves Pick Up First Win of Second Semester

Holyoke, MA - Sophomore shooting guard Kendra Kagiliery (Kittery, ME) scored a season high 16 points, including 4-7 from beyond the arc, to lead the Lady Seawolves to a 91-48 victory over the Cougars of Holyoke Community College.

Twenty-nine foul calls in the first half allowed both teams to generate some offense from the charity stripe. The Cougars connected on 12-19 attempts and the Seawolves capitalized on 9-14. Despite the Cougar advantage from the free throw line the Seawolves were able to take a 40-26 lead into the locker room at the half. In the final two quarters the depth of the Seawolves prevailed, outscoring a fatigued HCC team 51-22 to grab the nonconference victory.

The Lady Seawolves were able to put all eleven players in the scoring column in last night's game. Joining Kagiliery on the leader board were veteran post players Amira Jones (Chicopee, MA) who chalked up a double-double with 13 points and 16 rebounds, and Alicia Hoyt (Steep Falls, ME) who added 11 points and nine boards. Point guard Jordan Turner (Casco, ME) chipped in with 10 points.

The Cougars were led by shooting guard Sophie Jesionowski who netted a game high 21 points.

With this win the Lady Seawolves improve to 14-3 overall and will be back on the road Saturday when they play defending YSCC champions, College of St. Joseph's (VT) at 2pm.
