Turner's Double Double Helps Seawolves get 83-58 Win Over NHTI

Concord, NH - Sophomore point guard Jordan Turner (Casco, ME) chalked up her first collegiate double double with 11 points and 10 rebounds to help lead the Lady Seawolves to an 83-58 over the Lynx of NHTI.

Three consecutive layups by center Amira Jones (Chicopee, MA) in the opening minutes of last nights game, helped the Seawolves jump out to an early 12-0 lead. The Lynx responded with eight unanswered points of their own to cut the SM lead to 12-8. Turner wrapped up the first quarter with back to back layups and a free throw to expand the Seawolves lead to 19-9.

The second quarter started slowly with neither team scoring for the first three minutes. The Lynx fired first with a Risely Deoleo layup and the Seawolves responded immediately with an Alicia Hoyt (Steep Falls, ME) made basket. After the Hoyt field goal the Seawolves proceeded to net 24 points in just seven minutes. Seawolves shooting guards Sammie Griffin (Union, ME) and Abigail Nielsen (North Yarmouth, ME) each dropped five points in the second to help SM build a 43-21 halftime lead.

After the intermission the two teams played an even third quarter each scoring 22 points. Jones led the Seawolves with 10 points while Deoleo scored 13 for the Lynx. Foul trouble impacted the Seawolves by the fourth quarter and team ended the game playing five guards. Griffin once again led the charge with five points, including a make from downtown and two from the charity stripe.

Joining Turner on the leaderboard were Hoyt and Jones who each netted 16 points and combined for 14 rebounds. Griffin and Vanese Barnes (Jay, ME) each added 10 points while Nielsen and Maria Veino (Sanford, ME) both chipped in with nine. Veino also had a team high 12 rebounds.
