SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine— The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's basketball team suffered its second Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) loss to North divisional-rival Central Maine Community College (CMCC) 85-57 at The HUB on Wednesday, Feb. 8.

Prior to tip-off, SMCC Athletics recognized four student-athletes who were participating in their final regular season home basketball game: Jennifer Gendron (South Portland, Maine), Jennifer Conrad (Monmouth, Maine), co-captain Hannah Heald (Union, Maine), and co-captain Vanese Barnes (Jay, Maine).

First-years Kaylah Abdul (South Berwick, Maine) and Alicia Ruth (Plaistow, N.H.) finished in double-digits— Ruth with 10 points and Abdul with 15. Ruth continues to lead the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) in three-point percentage (41.7), burying three of seven from downtown in this game.

Central Maine's Brooke Reynolds led all scorers in the game with 21 points, notching a double-double tallying 11 rebounds.

Although the SeaWolves committed less turnovers, they were not able to match Central Maine's hot shooting, 46.2 percent from beyond the arc, 48.6 percent from the floor.

In a post-game interview, Head Coach Katie Bergeron commented, "Obviously not the score we wanted at the end of the game, but we fought until the end. The CM women shot the lights out and played a great game! Tonight was about more than just the final result, it was a chance to celebrate our four wonderful seniors— they have done so much for this program and it was nice to have a night to honor that!"

The SeaWolves will round out their regular season on the road when they travel to Vermont Technical College to face the 8-7 Rams on Saturday, Feb. 11.
