SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's basketball team made it seven straight with a convincing 105-22 win over the Herons from Great Bay Community College in conference action on Wednesday, Dec. 8.

The SeaWolves made it happen on both ends of the floor—recording their best shooting performance of the year from beyond the arc (44.8 percent), and limiting the opposition to just nine points in the first quarter and 13 in the fourth.

First-year Hannah Richards (Bradley, Maine) led all scorers with 14 on an efficient 6-7 from the floor. First-year Shea Pickering (Drewsville, N.H.) netted a career-high 13 points, knocking down three from downtown, and captain Bailey Whitney (Norway, Maine) and Maggie Strohm (Old Orchard Beach, Maine) combined for 16 rebounds.

Great Bay's Madison Lovely tallied six points and 19 rebounds in 29 minutes of work.

SMCC improves to 7-1 overall and 3-0 in YSCC play; Great Bay slips to 1-7 on the year, 0-6 YSCC.

The SeaWolves return to action when they travel to Auburn for the first of two meetings with conference-rival Central Maine Community College. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
