Lady Wolves Drub Lynx, Improve To Conference-Best 7-1

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's basketball team continued its winning streak, routing the NHTI Lynx 93-29 in a Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) make-up Monday, Jan. 17.

The SMCC defense limited the Lynx to 10 or less in all four quarters, and connected on 38.4 percent of 99 attempts from the field. As a team, the SeaWolves made 13-15 from the free throw line—a season-best percentage (86.7).

First-year guards Kyla Greenleaf (Topsham, Maine) and Allexius Theberge (Standish, Maine) set career-highs in point totals—Greenleaf with 20 on 9-13 shooting and Theberge 18. Three others landed in double figures to feature a double-double from sophomore captain Tara Flanders (Windham, Maine).

NHTI's Shanowa Brown led her team with nine points and seven rebounds.

SMCC improves to a conference best 7-1, 12-2 on the season. NHTI slips to 3-4 in YSCC play, 4-6 overall.

The SeaWolves continue their home stand when they host the Bobcats from Bryant and Stratton-Albany in non-conference action Saturday, Jan. 22. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. **No spectators permitted.
