SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's basketball team earned a 62-51 win over United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Div. 1-opponent Bryant and Stratton College- Albany on Saturday, Jan. 22.

Knotted 28-28 at the break, the SeaWolves were victims of a 7-2 run to open the third quarter. First-year guard Allexius Theberge (Standish, Maine) helped shift the momentum with timely baskets that helped SMCC to a 12-2 run and a 5-point advantage to begin the fourth.

Both sides traded field goals to begin the final period, but the home team eventually found separation on a 7-2 run to close the game. Theberge, first-year Kyla Greenleaf (Topsham, Maine) and sophomore center Aija Andrews (Norwalk, Conn.) all scored 13 points—Andrews adding seven rebounds and five blocks to the stat sheet.

Bryant and Stratton's Hasjina Gaddy and Saige Roberts combined for 32 points and 14 rebounds—both logging 40 minutes of work.

The result moves SMCC to 14-2 overall— the team's eighth straight win at home. Bryant and Stratton stands 7-11 on the year.

Following the game, Head Coach Katie Stannard commented, "We kept pace with Bryant and Stratton in the first half—a team that featured an athletic starting five. Getting contribution off the bench that sparked mini-runs in the second proved to be the difference. Now the preparation begins for a pivotal conference match-up on Wednesday."

The SeaWolves return to conference action when they host the Moose from the University of Maine at Augusta in the second of two regular season meetings on Wednesday, Jan. 26. Tip-off inside The HUB is scheduled for 6 p.m. **Spectators not permitted.
