AUBURN, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's basketball team fell short to #1 Central Maine Community College (CMCC) 57-50 in the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) championship game on Saturday, Feb. 26.

In a game that featured eight lead changes and five ties, the SeaWolves trailed by four points at the break but went ahead 32-30 late in the third on a three-pointer by sophomore captain Ashleigh Mathisen (Portland, Maine). The Mustangs responded on a 12-0 run spanning the third and fourth quarters to create the separation they would ride to the end.

CMCC's Eliza Brault led the way with 14 points and Kali Thompson secured 15 rebounds.
