RICHMOND, Va.—The #6 Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's basketball team suffered defeat 63-51 to #3 University of Cincinnati- Clermont in the quarterfinal round of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Div. 2 National Tournament on Tuesday, Mar. 8.

The SeaWolves jumped ahead 8-4 to begin the game, but fell behind three points after 10 minutes of action. The offense slowed in the second quarter to produce just five points—this proved the difference in an otherwise tight second half. In total, SMCC connected for 31.3 percent from the field and under 20 percent from beyond the arc.

Sophomore captain Tara Flanders (Windham, Maine) topped all scorers in the game with 23 points. First-year all-american Hannah Richards (Bradley, Maine) recorded eight points and eight rebounds, and sophomore captain Bailey Whitney (Norway, Maine) pulled down 11 boards.

Clermont's Victoria Brooks led her team with 20 points on 8-17 shooting spanning 36 minutes of work.

The Lady SeaWolves will conclude their 2022 season with a meeting against the Vikings from Villa Maria College in a consolation game Wednesday, Mar. 9. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
