CONCORD, N.H. – Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's basketball secured a 30-point victory on the road, 93-63, at NHTI on Wednesday, February 1. This the teams' second and final regular season meeting.

Although it was a tight game by the end of the first quarter, the Seawolves quickly out-paced NHTI in the second and third quarters to finish the game with a comfortable lead. The road team pulled down 64 rebounds and made 11 of its 14 free-throws.

Junior captain Ashleigh Mathisen (Portland, Maine) topped all scorers in the game with 21 points; she picked up eight rebounds and five assists to go along with two steals. Junior Hope Butler (Rockland, Maine) put up 17 points and four rebounds spanning 30 minutes on the floor. Junior captain Aija Andrews (Norwalk, Conn.) and first-year Jasmine Aloisio (South Berwick, Maine) each scored 12 points—Andrews with eight rebounds and six blocks and Aloisio with 12 rebounds and four assists.

Jessica Allen and Bess Deacon were NHTI's most effective players combing for 30 points and 16 boards.

When asked about the game, Head Coach Katie Stannard commented, "NHTI is always a great offensive threat—forcing us into too many mental lapses. But overall another great team win. Ashleigh proved again her leadership on the floor and it's great to see players like Jazz get to that double platform but still not be satisfied!"

SMCC moves to 14-5 overall and 8-1 in the conference action.

The Seawolves play next on Saturday, February 4 at Massasoit Community College. Tip-off in Brockton, Mass. is set for 1:00 p.m.
