BROCKTON, Mass. – The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's basketball team beat out Massasoit Community College on the road 69-67 in non-conference play Sunday, Feb. 5.

After losing to Massasoit earlier in the season the Seawolves had something to prove and finished the first quarter ahead 22-11. In a game of runs, Massasoit came back to win the second and third quarters to keep the pressure on. In an exciting finish, sophomore Maddy York (Nobleboro, Maine) hit a buzzer-beater from the baseline to win the game!

Junior captains Ashleigh Mathisen (Portland, Maine) and Aija Andrews (Norwalk, Conn.) posted 14 and 12 points and combined for nine rebounds. York scored 15 points and pulled down four rebounds for the road team.

Rickayla Johnson and Jordan Hue teamed up to score 39 points for Massasoit and Jade'Brooklyn Hill landed nine points and 10 rebounds.

The result moves the Seawolves to 16-5 overall as they maintain their 9-1 record in conference.
