SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine – The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's basketball team rolled to a 86-42 win over the Knights from Vermont Technical College (VTC) on Saturday, February 18.

Head Coach Katie Stannard paid tribute to her four graduating players prior to what would be their final regular season game at The HUB. Those were Tara Flanders, Aija Andrews, Ashleigh Mathisen and Bailey Whitney.

SMCC dominated the first half scoring 58 points to VTC's 15. The Seawolves did enough in the second to maintain their advantage and win by a wide margin on Senior Day.

Junior captain Tara Flanders (Windham, Maine) scored a season-high 22 points on an efficient 8-11 shooting. Sophomore Maddy York (Nobleboro, Maine) finished with 17 points and five rebounds and first-year Kaiyla Delisle (Cumberland, Maine) put up 10 points and nine rebounds. Junior captain Aija Andrews (Norwalk, Connecticut) matched a season-high seven blocks.

VTC was led by junior Coreeahn Yharborough, who registered 22 points, three steals, five assists, and four rebounds.

Stannard mentioned how special it was to recognize her four graduating players before the game and made some additional comments regarding the result, "The first half we played loose and had a lot of fun which was nice to see again. It was a great game to lead us into playoffs!"

SMCC moves to 18-7 overall and 11-3 in conference play.

The Seawolves will host the quarterfinal round of the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) tournament next weekend. Stay tuned for the release of seedings and game details.
