Women’s Soccer Suffers Overtime Loss to Unity College

With playoff implications on the line, the women’s soccer team looked eager to avenge their September 24th 2-0 loss to Unity College.  They needed the win to force a play-in game for the final seed of the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) East Division.  Despite a valiant effort, the Seawolves came up short losing to Unity College 3-2 in overtime.

Senior Cady Gagnon (Biddeford, ME) struck first for the Seawolves in the third minute of play from just shy of midfield. Unity put up two goals in the twenty-eighth and forty-third minute respectively to go up 2-1 at half.  Gagnon found freshman Bethany Gullbrand (Portland, ME) in the eighty-third minute to force the game into overtime. Unity’s Kristy Manuell scored the game winning goal five minutes into the overtime period.

The Seawolves, who showed tremendous progress throughout the season, ended at an even .500 going 5-5 in conference play and overall.
