Seawolves Top UMA 3-1

Seawolves Top UMA 3-1

The SMCC women's soccer team overpowered UMA in the second half to win 3-1, avenging their 3-1 loss at UMA on September 10.

Senior Cady Gagnon (Biddeford, ME) struck first for the Seawolves off an assist from freshman Bethany Gullbrand (Portland, ME). UMA sophomore striker Jenn Lola tied the game 1-1 going into half time.  The Seawolves' strength and conditioning paid off as UMA couldn't keep up with SMCC's attack in the second half. Seven minutes in, freshman Molly Gallagher (Portland, ME) scored off Gullbrand's second assist of the game. Freshman Callie Day (Porter, ME) scored the final goal just nine minutes later off an assist from Kellianne MacFarlane.

Freshman goalie Kristal Saavedra (Portland, ME)performed well once again in the net recording 14 saves.

The Seawolves, now 3-2 overall and in conference play, host University of Maine-Machias (6-1-1) on Friday, September 30th at 1:00 PM.
