Lady Seawolves Grab First Win

South Portland - Eight minutes into this afternoon's women's soccer matchup between the Lady Knights of Vermont Technical College (VTC) and the Lady Seawolves, SMCC midfielder Zyrah Giustra (New Sharon, ME) drove the ball into the right corner of the net past VTC goalie, Laura Flint, giving the Seawolves the early one score advantage. The Lady Seawolves were able to hold off 17 shots attempts by Vermont Tech during the remainder of the contest, pulling out the 1-0 victory. 

The Lady Seawolves were able to get off 27 shots for the game with Katy Cyr (Chicopee, MA) leading the way with eight attempts and Giustra and Danielle McCusker (South Portland, ME) getting off six shots a piece. Flint ended the game with 15 saves for the Lady Knights, while Seawolves goalkeeper Aime Worcester (Naples, ME) tallied ten saves.

The Lady Seawolves are now 1-1-0 for the season and 1-0-0 in YSCC play. The Lady Seawolves will be back at home against Hampshire College on Sunday at 1pm.
