Lady Seawolves Dominate Mustangs

Auburn - In this afternoon's women's soccer action the Lady Seawolves dominated the Mustangs of Central Maine CC for the second time in the course of a week. On Wednesday the Seawolves triumphed 8-0 over CMCC, their largest margin of victory so far this season until tonight when they defeated the Mustangs 9-0.

The Seawolves did a great job distributing the ball and getting numerous people involved in the offense. In the first half forward Danielle McCusker (South Portland, ME) netted two consecutive goals, dribbling the back line both times. Jessica Reed (Bedford, MA) concluded the first half scoring when she found the back of the net on a crossed ball.

Leading 3-0 at the half, SMCC opened up the offense in the second 45. Marina West (Farmington, ME) scored on a free kick from the left side of the eighteen, beating the keeper near post. Midfielder Zyrah Giustra (New Sharon, ME) put up the second goal of the half when she dribbled past four defenders and kicked a ball that barely rolled across the line. Forward Katy Cyr (Chicopee, MA) who had a hat trick in the previous meeting of these two teams put herself in the scorebooks with two second half goals. Defenders Shannon Blanchard (Windsor, ME) and Sydney Choate (Richmond, ME) rounded out the socring with one goal apiece. Blanchard scored off a well placed crossed ball and Choate nutmegged the keeper for the score.

With two regular season games remaining the Seawolves are now 4-5-1 overall and 2-4-1 in YSCC action. They will play again on Wednesday October 8th at home against the St. Joe's JV squad at 4pm.
