Unity Slips by SMCC in Final Regular Season Contest

South Portland -This afternoon the Lady Seawolves closed out their  regular season with a home game against the Lady Rams of Unity College. The Rams' defense held SMCC scoreless, allowing just five shots for the contest, en route to a 2-0 victory.

After 40 minutes of play neither team had found their way into the scorebooks but at the 41:29 mark Unity's Morgan Schroeder delivered a ball to teammate Mariza Gionfriddo who placed it in the back of the net, giving the Rams a 1-0 lead. The score remained 1-0 for just over 35 minutes until Lady Rams' forward McKinley Bell chipped one past Seawolves' keeper Aime Worcester (Naples, ME). Goal number two was also assisted by Schroeder, which gives her ten assists on the season, enough to tie for most assists in YSCC play.

These two teams will meet again on Wednesday, October 15th at Unity for the YSCC quarterfinals. Wednesday's game will be a rematch from the 2013 YSCC quarterfinals where after one overtime period Unity prevailed, 3-2.
