Seawolves Earn Third Shutout of the Season, Cormier gets Hat Trick

Franklin, MA - The Seawolves' offense has been red hot so far this season. Prior to today they were tied for second most goals on the season in the YSCC with 17, and this afternoon's efforts will likely propel them into the top spot as they defeated Dean College by a score of 8-0.

Tori Cormier (Lebanon, ME) got things started when she notched her first goal at the 12:03 mark off a pass from former high school teammate Hannah Fields (Shapleigh, ME). Fields dished out another assist just two minutes later when she lofted a corner kick to forward Kym Hendrix (Waterboro, ME) who side volleyed the ball into the net. The Seawolves would score one more time in the first half, this time it was forward Madelyn Wade (Brunswick, ME) who headed a pass from Zyrah Giustra (New Sharon, ME) into the upper ninety.

The Seawolves momentum rolled into the second half when Cormier scored two goals in a five minute span to round out her impressive hat trick performance. Wade and Giustra would each score midway through the period to give the Seawolves goals six and seven and finally defender Katy Owen (Gardiner, ME) found the back of the net off a pass from Sarah Keith (Chesterville, ME) to solidify the 8-0 triumph.

With this win the Seawolves improve to 4-1 overall, their best start in over five years. The next test will be come after a week of rest when they take on Unity College, the team that has knocked them out of the YSCC playoffs for the past two years, on the road next Saturday at 1pm.
