SeaWolves Repeat As YSCC Baseball Champions

OLD ORCHARD BEACH, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) baseball team was crowned Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) champions for the third consecutive year and sixth time spanning the previous seven seasons.

Semifinal Game vs. Great Bay CC: W, 5-0 | BOX | REPLAY
Conference Pitcher of the Year, Amos Herrin (Wilton, Maine) took the mound to face the #4-seeded Herons from Great Bay Community College and put on a dazzling performance throwing a two-hit complete game shutout. The right-hander fanned 12 to bring his season strikeout total to 108.

Sophomore Evan Leveroni (Sandown, N.H.) provided SMCC an early lead by rapping an RBI-single to left field to score Herrin in the first. The SeaWolves extended their lead by three in the third highlighted by a RBI-double by captain Nathaniel Cyr (Freeport, Maine).

SMCC tacked on its fifth run in the fifth inning advancing on a pass ball.

The Herons utilized three pitchers in their effort; starter Jose Soto suffering the loss. Great Bay finishes its season at 8-16 overall.

Championship Game vs. Central Maine CC: W, 9-1 | BOX | REPLAY
Coach Jordan Yanni gave first-year Dylan Francoeur (Westbrook, Maine) the nod in the finale who spread out one run over six hits in a seven-inning complete game assignment. Francoeur struck out three and walked one in the biggest stage of the season.

Junior Sean Adams (Lebanon, Maine) showed why he was deserving of an All-Conference selection blasting a towering two-run homer to left to get the SeaWolves on the board in the first. Leveroni tripled and Cyr singled to drive in two more runs in the inning.

SMCC went ahead 7-0 in the second inning, again it was Cyr with an extra-base hit to drive in two more as part of his 5-RBI day. First-year Timothy Greenlaw (Windham, Maine) would add to the scoring frenzy in the fourth inning to help his team to a 9-0 advantage.

Central Maine engineered a run in the sixth inning, but it would stop there. Cyr corralled a fly ball to left field to secure the final out of the game before SMCC stormed the field to meet starter Francoeur on the mound.
