Seawolves, Knights End in Deadlock After Double OT

Randolph, VT - After 110 minutes of play the Seawolves could not overcome the Knights of Vermont Tech as they ended in a 1-1 tie.

The Seawolves struck first, netting their lone goal shortly before halftime when Steve Rwendeye (Kigali, Rawanda) scored off a pass from teammate Brandon Ford (Lebanon, ME). The Seawolves were able to cling to their one point advantage until the 72:47 mark when the Knights' Troy Girard found the back of the net off an assist from Matthew Brien. A great defensive effort ensued as neither team was able to generate any further offense.

SMCC goalkeeper Drew Martin (Berwick, ME) ended the game with 10 saves.

With this tie the Seawolves are now sporting a 0-1-1 overall record. They will take the field again tomorrow, September 7th, at home against Ben Franklin College at 2pm. Please remember that Seawolves soccer home games are now being played at the Wainwright Sports Complex located at Gary L Maietta Way in South Portland.
