SMCC Welcomes Maine High School All-Stars

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine— Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) was the site of competition to both the Southwestern Maine Activities Association (SMAA) and Western Maine Conference (WMC) Girl’s and Boy’s Senior All-Star Games this week.

All-star festivities kicked off inside the HUB Gymnasium Monday, March 13 with the WMC Basketball Awards Banquet, followed by the SMAA girl’s and boy’s senior games on Wednesday, March 15 and the WMC games Thursday, March 16—at the half time of each game were three-point shooting contests.

The events featured 47 SMAA and 47 WMC senior all-stars representing 33 Maine high school programs in total. Director of Athletics and Head Men’s Basketball Coach Matt Richards commented, “SMCC Athletics has been very fortunate to partner with both of these regional high school athletic conferences. We feel it is a great way to give back to our surrounding communities while sharing our campus with the student-athletes’ family and friends.”

Congratulations to all of the award winners and to those student-athletes named all-stars!
