SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—At the conclusion of the semester, Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) Interim Director of Athletics Ethan Wells published the findings of the semi-annual Spring 2025 Athletics Engagement and Academic Report. - Overall student-athlete GPA: 3.04 (.08 points better than spring 2024)
- Spring 2025-Fall 2025 USCAA retention rate: 90.96% (same as spring 2024-fall 2025)
- Student-athletes earning a 3.0 GPA or better: 68 (57% of total student-athletes)

In strategic review of the data Wells stated, “We set another department record this semester with a 3.04 GPA, the highest mark since tracking the data from spring 2014. Administrators and coaches take great pride in our student-athletes’ efforts in the classroom as well as on the playing surface. This level of academic achievement rounds out what it means to be a Seawolf, and I look forward to passing this tradition along to those joining us in the fall!”
